Saturday Was Definitely a Gift of Spring

Spring was in full effect on saturday. I had so much fun seeing the fete take shape, and take flight. And performing at the end of the evening was bloody fantastic! The smoke machine was a bit much at times - haha - I felt like I was in science fiction tv show or something! I am so grateful for all the help from friends and family, and for all those who supported from afar and for those who came. I am not sure whether I should chill out for a couple days or start planning a tour or another album...

Playing in English Bay

My God, what a Sunday this was. One of the best of all time for me. I am so grateful for these little moments of heaven, little refuges from everything unnecessary.

Lemming Dynasty

Lemming Dynasty is a band well aware of their surroundings.
Tim, Joel, and Adam Parent, along with Bruno Dominelli
consciously reflect the climate in which they became
– or are becoming – adults, in their music and lyrics.
Slick grooves sauced in social outrage beget haunting melodies,
peppered with a sly irony reminiscent of times when leaving a
little to the imagination was as classy as it is classic. Intrinsic
to the Dynasty's sound is a strong sense of soulful defiance;
that unwavering purpose develops throughout the emerging
band's repertoire as the young ensemble is engulfed in the
creative thralls of self-discovery. One hears elements of
grimy 70s funk, dirty grunge, electro punk and proggy jazz;
but always in the context of a song, and always in the context
of Lemming Dynasty. So in an era where retro is getting old
again and your creepy uncle's dusty track suit graces the covers
of sarcastic new wave magazine covers, Lemming Dynasty isn't
afraid to punctuate their craft with tight arrangements, searing
harmonies and riff-heavy bottom grooves. They are out to create
the very object that seduced them into the arms of mistress music
in the first place – a good f**kn rock and roll song.

Lemming Dynasty will bring a bit of edge to the Spring Fete!!!

Boxes and Elephants

Geoff K has this vision of the Spring Fete so I
have been out collecting the biggest boxes I could
find - bike boxes are the best! I've rediscovered
the joy of drawing having prepared a piece for
screenprint - 108 elephants. A few of us are creating
an art & screenprinting collective called ideo savante.
With the help of Andrea and Siobhan we now have
several bags of vintage clothes (read used!)
to recreate with 3 or 4 images from Geoff Thierman,
Geoff Keong, Eva Dominelli, and myself.

Steph MacPherson - Verdict

I first heard Steph at a singer-songwriter show at Trees that John Pippus puts on.
She sings with me on Give Up the Fright on Latest Waking. On that track I feel her
voice really adds a haunting feeling. Be sure to catch her set at the Spring Fete at 7:30pm.
You can check out more from her on myspace.
